We aim to reply to every message. Enquiries about an entry should state the class the entrant is studying in and the name of the school.
About the
founders
The Reasoning Commons was founded by Jahnab Bharadwaj and Prakriti Kar as an independent educational initiative. It is self-funded, and developed and administered voluntarily. A couple, both are alumni of the Delhi School of Economics, and work as communications and media professionals across a range of fields.
The initiative reflects a long-standing interest in the philosophy of science, science communication, and public reasoning, particularly in understanding how knowledge is created, tested, and communicated. It seeks to cultivate a habit of curious inquiry and methodical scepticism: asking better questions, examining claims carefully, and proportioning belief to the evidence.
The inaugural edition of the competition is being held in Sonitpur district, Assam, in the belief that lasting institutions should first take root within the communities they hope to serve. While the initiative begins with an annual essay competition, its broader purpose is to cultivate critical thinking, encourage open inquiry, and strengthen scientific temper through education.
